Where I write

Then there’s the sounds that go with the view. The caw­ing of crows and ravens and the high pitched call of an eagle. Or the caco­phony of sound an army of small birds made the day a Barred owl perched in a Douglas fir. I watched as a hum­ming­bird dar­ted for­ward to stab the enemy in the chest with a tiny beak. Interruptions interfere with writing

I thought it was just me. But it turns out that inter­rup­tions are det­rim­al to the writ­ing pro­cess. The human brain was built to con­cen­trate on one thing at a time. And a Univeristy of California study shows that deal­ing with inter­rup­tions gets more dif­fi­cult the older a per­son gets. Continue read­ing
